About Us

For Eddie and Jimmy Mateus, the dream of owning a business was always
an important one. Raised in New York City’s toughest streets, they worked hard
and overcame many obstacles to achieve that goal. After becoming successful
entrepreneurs in construction and real estate, they embarked on a new adventure:
Ricardo Steakhouse.

The Mateus brothers astutely chose East Harlem to debut their restaurant; an
area undergoing quite a renaissance. For years, there had been a need in East
Harlem for a trendy establishment that offered delicious food in a great ambiance
with staff that paralleled family. Eddie and Jimmy aimed to create a hip, urban
environment where the people of “el barrio” could savor a drink, indulge in a great
meal, and have a good time.

When Ricardo Steakhouse opened, its patrons were treated to the sight of
exposed brick walls adorned with local artwork, an open kitchen showcasing
talented chefs, and an outdoor patio. A particular point of pleasure for diners, the
backyard patio is perfect for summer nights. It is also enclosed and heated during
the colder months. Most importantly, our guests are continually greeted by warm
and familiar faces. The results of the Mateus brothers’ efforts have made Ricardo
Steakhouse the jewel of Harlem.
